EHS Intern | Parker Hannifin

The Tone:

This is an hourly internship at Parker Hannifin, located in Ogden, UT, within the Commercial Flight Controls Division. Parker Aerospace develops technologies and innovative solutions that enable reliable, efficient, and increasingly sustainable flight for the lifecycle of aircraft, including OEM support, solidifying its position as a global leader in aerospace flight controls. As an EHS Intern, you will be instrumental in fulfilling the company’s mission: ‘Enabling Engineering Breakthroughs that Lead to a Better Tomorrow.’

Your contributions will be pivotal in developing innovative technologies and products, significantly addressing the world’s most pressing engineering challenges, all while ensuring that the team members belong, matter, and make a difference. The role specifically supports the deployment of facility Environment, Health, and Safety goals and objectives, working with EHS management to ensure compliance and achieve a zero-incident culture.

What You’ll Actually Do
  • Program Sustainment:
    Support the sustainment of EHS programs and procedures to meet facility objectives and targets, with a key focus on accident prevention, EHS regulatory compliance, energy management, and waste management & minimization.
  • Training Delivery:
    Plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs to all team members, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Audit Compliance:
    Support and manage corrective actions stemming from both Corporate EHS and external audits, ensuring rigorous compliance with Corporate EHS Policy and Directives and maintaining necessary EHS records.
  • Waste & Resource Management:
    Directly oversee the Division’s waste management program, including recycling initiatives, while also working towards energy use reduction and supporting environmental or safety management systems as required.
  • Strategic Integration:
    Co-chair ISO 14001 and Sustainability Committees, support customer EHS requirements and responses to surveys, and integrate EHS considerations into Lean, HR, and Supply Chain efforts.
The Must-Haves
  • Background:
    Student working towards completion of a BS Degree in a technical field, with EHS preferred.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of applicable experience.
  • Skills:

    Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations, ability to work independently, and excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Bonus:
    Experience in a manufacturing environment desired, along with environmental experience in areas such as Air, Water, and Waste.
