Job Summary:
In this role, you will support the Mechanical Engineering Group Supervisor in supervising a team of Mechanical personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans and review and approve mechanical investigations and studies. Your leadership will drive high quality work plans, successful implementation of mechanical components, team support and training, and project performance.
Major Responsibilities:- Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day mechanical engineering activity on small sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal complexity within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly
- Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of mechanical discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
- Reviews and makes recommendations of the mechanical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
- When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of mechanical engineering aspects of the work
- Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
- Ensures that assigned mechanical engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
- Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must have a strong understanding of Mechanical engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to design requirements.
- Experience with or knowledge of HVAC design principals, codes, and standards.
- Experience with or knowledge of procurement of components from vendors on a government project and interfacing with both vendors and procurements to successfully deliver.
- Experience developing equipment configuration packages for procurement and maintenance.
- Experience with or knowledge of interfacing with other engineering disciplines to deliver standard engineering deliverables and understanding the key handoffs for the products delivered.
- Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
- Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles in accordance with Bechtel, general industry, and regulatory codes, standards, and guides.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Facility related experience includes, but is not limited to, design development of nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as AS9100, or NQA-1.
- [Preferred] - Professional Engineering (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering or ability to obtain within a year of hire.
- [Preferred] - Experience working with government agencies, preferably Department of Defense (DoD).
- [Preferred] - Experience with or knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and MIL-STD based mechanical design.
- [Preferred] - Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Master format specifications, or Specs Intact.
