Water Conservation & Stormwater Coordinator I
The Water Conservation & Stormwater Coordinator will work closely with WSU plumbing and landscaping staff to identify, plan, and execute water conservation projects. The coordinator will also maintain WSU’s water use records, analyze the water reduction impacts of implemented projects, and help execute campus sustainability programs under the Director of Utilities and Sustainability. Additionally, the role involves developing education and outreach materials, delivering sustainability classroom presentations, and leading campus tours requested by faculty, staff, and the community.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with WSU plumbing, landscaping, and sustainability teams to plan and execute water conservation projects.
- Maintain water use records and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation initiatives.
- Prepare educational materials and deliver outreach presentations on sustainability.
- Provide classroom and campus tour presentations on sustainability topics.
- Assist the Director of Utilities and Sustainability with campus sustainability projects and programs.
- Field-related Bachelor's Degree in environmental science/studies, water resources, geosciences, geography, urban planning, or a closely related field.
- At least one year of experience in water conservation, stormwater management, or sustainability.
- Ability to obtain APWA Registered Stormwater Inspector Certification within one year of employment.
- Background check required.
- Strong analytical and computing skills, with Excel proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing, public speaking, and oral presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Creative, collaborative problem‑solving ability.
- Experience as a ground sprinkler operator, plumber, or equivalent.
- Experience with a Rain Master or equivalent smart irrigation management system.
- Experience managing volunteers or staff.
