Position Overview

Cimarron is seeking a senior‑level Civil Designer to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Air Force's Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program in Ogden, UT. This role involves engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations including Vandenberg AFB, CA; F.E. Warren AFB, WY;
Malmstrom AFB, MT; and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will update the nation’s aging ground‑based nuclear deterrent – the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). Join our team for the opportunity to design the future ICBM.

This is an on‑site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a strong work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties
  • Support design development of Civil Site engineering designs for the Sentinel program by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, following applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Work with other Civil Designers/Engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.
  • Originate and check Civil Site deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3‑D models of earthwork/site design.
  • Review Civil/Structural deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3‑D models for steel and concrete.
  • Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
  • Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
  • Work with Civil/Structural supervisors to plan, budget, and schedule drawing and 3‑D model deliverables within the discipline.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ‑compliant driver's license or state‑issued identification card at the time of hire. Must complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening, which will include but not be limited to testing for marijuana use.

Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
    Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance in a reasonable timeframe.
    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe.
    This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ‑compliant driver’s license or state‑issued identification card at the time of hire.
  • Ability to complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening, which will include but be not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • Advanced experience using AutoCAD – Civil3D.
  • Work experience should emphasize Civil Site design and horizontal projects, such as rail and telecommunications.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, FHWA, MUTCD, and WBDG UFC codes.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, details, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with Facilities Design.
  • Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of Civil Site systems of moderate complexity.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to express technical issues clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to resolve design issues with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 15 or more years of related design experience, or Associate of Arts or Science and 11 or more years of related design experience, or Bachelor of Science and 6 or more years of related design experience.
