EHS Specialist

About the role:
As an EHS Specialist you will develop and implement policies to identify/reduce hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. Investigating accidents and environmental incidents and working with engineers, management, environmental, health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents/incidents and prevent their recurrence. Providing advice and training on environmental and safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental, health and safety.
Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other partners impacted by the environmental performance of the organization. You will report to the Lead EHS Specialist and be located in Ogden, UT. This is an onsite role.
Key Responsibilities:
Be a representative for Environmental issues and opportunities, in areas of RCRA, plant waste streams such as used oil, general waste, universal waste, solid waste, and hazardous waste. Promote the development and sharing of essential health and safety learning (including operating experience, lessons learned and best practices). Support development of site environmental programs, tools and standards, including training and communication in a manner that ensures compliance to regulatory and internal requirements.
Conduct / facilitate assessments and implement, or partner with sites and departments to implement corrections and controls. Support improvement projects through data analysis related to site specific environmental issues. Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organization through employee communications, participation, and programs.
Qualifications:
Great records management. Willingness to safely operate a forklift and site waste management including hazardous waste shipments, universal waste shipments, solid waste shipments, and roll-off management. Environmental waste management experience and pass RCRA training. Experience working with Hazardous waste or have experience in an environmental or safety role. 1+ years of progressive experience in a moderate to high industrial safety / health risk workplace.
Can interpret complex documents. Ability and flexibility to work in a team setting and be part of a team.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $64,800 to $81,000 per year.
