Position: Manufacturing Engineer I

Job Summary

SOW Project. Rate: $61.07. Manufacturing Engineer to work onsite at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. Period of performance is 6 months, 40 hours per week. US citizenship is required. Hiring manager:

Background

The Logistics Services (LS) team supports the United States Air Force (USAF) Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) Depot's Public Private Partnership (Hill AFB PBL) contract, the largest repair and overhaul contract at Services and Support Operations today. The current Manufacturing Engineering position scope was originally handled by two engineers, of which we currently have one. Our current engineer will shift focus towards Assembly and Test Support: existing test stand repair or improvement, identifying test equipment opportunities, supporting implementation and use of new STE program, testing documentation review and alignment, while still supporting all ME functions as backup.

This role targets Production Support: BOM maintenance, core material inspection/evaluation, communicating and establishing processes with supporting Parker Aerospace divisions, reviewing assets at induction for accuracy, aiding with asset inventory maintenance, writing rework travelers, reviewing prints and drawings to support Quality and Sustainment, and working alongside depot partners to drive process improvement and resolution to production issues.

Scope of Work
  • General Responsibilities
    • Manufacturing Process Flow – Plans, documents, and creates travelers for manufacturing processes and routes to establish and improve the refurbishment of existing products.
    • Process Improvement – Develops and implements projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. May lead small teams in these efforts.
    • Process Improvement – Participate in Kaizen events and implement LEAN principles and technologies.
    • Engineering Support – Provides guidance to engineering leadership regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
    • Engineering Support – Reads, analyzes, and interprets legacy and new engineering drawings, technical manuals, and policies, recommending changes to procedures and validating material conformity or repair requirements.
    • Engineering Support – Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to learn and share best practices, maintaining an understanding of industry standards and trends.
    • Engineering Support – Communicates with supplier management, logistics specialists, and material buyers for part acquisition activities.
    • Regulatory Compliance – Investigates and proposes changes to processes and procedures to improve consistency across organization and partnerships, ensuring procedures comply with regulations.
    • Remediation – Investigates and suggests corrective actions to ensure product quality and resolve quality issues.
    • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Contractual Responsibilities
    • Understands and complies with all company and contract order processing requirements.
    • Resolves order processing issues and concerns in a timely manner.
    • Basic understanding of FAR and DFAR requirements.
  • Candidate Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Manufacturing or similar engineering discipline, with two or more years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing setting.
Level and Period of Performance

Anticipate requiring one Manufacturing Engineering Technician for 40 hours weekly for an initial period of 6 months. Effort performed on Hill Air Force Base. Ability to meet base access standards required.
