EHS Specialist

As an EHS Specialist you will develop and implement policies to identify and reduce hazardous conditions in the workplace and external environments, investigate accidents and environmental incidents, and work with engineers, management, and regulatory authorities to identify causes and prevent recurrence. You will provide advice and training on environmental and safety protocols and conduct audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards.
You will maintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other partners impacted by the organization’s environmental performance.
- Represent environmental issues and opportunities in RCRA and plant waste streams such as used oil, general waste, universal waste, solid waste, and hazardous waste.
- Promote the development and sharing of essential health and safety learning.
- Support development of site environmental programs, tools, and standards, including training and communication to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Conduct or facilitate assessments and implement corrections and controls, or partner with sites and departments to implement corrections and controls.
- Support improvement projects through data analysis related to site specific environmental issues.
- Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organization through employee communications, participation, and programs.
- Great records management.
- Willingness to safely operate a forklift and perform site waste management including hazardous waste shipments, universal waste shipments, solid waste shipments, and roll‑off management.
- Experience in environmental waste management and RCRA training.
- Experience working with hazardous waste or in an environmental or safety role.
- At least 1 year of progressive experience in a moderate to high industrial safety/health risk workplace.
- Ability to interpret complex documents and flexibility to work in a team setting.
The base salary range for this position is estimated to be $64,800 to $81,000 per year.
