Overview
Pay range: $15.50–$20.39 per hour (based on experience; higher rates for certified tellers)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday through Saturday, flexible
Responsibilities- Act as a service representative providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier’s checks, money orders, and cash advances.
- Balance each day’s transactions and verify cash totals.
- Establish and build member relationships by identifying members’ needs and educating them about specific products and/or services; cross‑sell credit union services enthusiastically.
- Perform a broad variety of member service functions such as opening and closing accounts, renewing certificates, and assisting members with bookkeeping and account maintenance.
- For certified tellers: resolve more complex member transactions independently and refer members when necessary.
- Assist members via all channels such as phone, mail, text, email, video solutions, and self‑serve channels.
- Actively promote and cross‑sell digital services to members and serve as a digital services expert in the branch.
- Perform various clerical functions and assist other service representatives as required.
- Serve members promptly and professionally.
- Attain expected baselines in sales, volume, and service to support branch goals.
- Perform teller functions consistently and accurately in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain privacy of member account information.
- Process transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, cashier’s checks, money orders, CD, HSA, IRA, and other recognized transactions.
- Verify transactions, monitor deposit amounts and examine documents for endorsement and negotiability; detect and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Make risk assessments of negotiable items within assigned limits of authority.
- Investigate and resolve out‑of‑balance conditions.
- Override function for other tellers, within defined authority limits.
- Act as a branch expert for electronic services and assist with daily maintenance of self‑assist machines and video equipment.
- Provide member account assistance such as lock‑outs, online banking PIN/password resets, direct deposit, ACH, wire transfers, and other digital service needs.
- Maintain effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and management.
- Provide guidance to other teller service representatives and trainees as directed.
- Keep supervisor informed of area activities and significant problems or concerns.
- Implement a personal 90‑day sales action plan to meet individual and branch established sales goals.
- Attend and participate in trainings, meetings, branch sales huddles, and focus activities as required.
- Adhere to branch safety, security, and teller audit procedures.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- None.
- Previous retail sales or similar financial institution work experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to assist others.
- Ability to recognize and offer sales opportunities.
- Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
- Solid math skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to operate related computer software and business equipment including 10‑key, currency and coin counters, cash machines, self‑assist machines, video, iPad, and telephone.
