Job Summary
Responsible for completing angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images.
Shift DetailsFull‑time (40 hours), variable, four 10‑hour shifts. 5:00 pm – 7:00 am, on call, holiday coverage.
Unit & LocationMcKay‑Dee Hospital, Intermountain Health, Ogden, Utah.
Essential Functions- Maintains up‑to‑date licensure and certifications required for position.
- Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech, according to Angio lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Develops specific knowledge about invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
- Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable QC (Quality Control) programs, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
- Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns.
- Transports patients as needed.
- Maintains work area and stocks supplies as needed.
- Minimum 2 years Angio/Interventional experience or Vascular/Interventional radiography certification. Required.
- Recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients.
- Knowledge and adherence to infection control and sterile techniques.
- Demonstrated skills and expertise in complex diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- ARRT – American Registry Required upon hire.
- BCLS – Basic Life Support Required upon hire.
- ACLS – within 120 days required for non‑pediatric hospitals.
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced within 120 days required for pediatric hospitals.
- Relevant state licensure and/or certifications Required upon hire.
- Vascular/Interventional Radiography (VIR) certification Preferred.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. Includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. Includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for a long time.
40 hours per week. Pay range: $35.25 – $54.39 per hour, depending on experience.
