Dialysis Technician Job Overview
The Dialysis Technician performs dialysis care as delegated by a Registered Nurse, maintaining treatment consistency, monitoring patient response, and reporting variations to the charge RN.
Salary & BenefitsPay Range: $19.87 - $28.31/hour (Uncertified) and $21.88 - $33.77/hour (Certified), depending on experience. Benefits Eligible:

Part‑time, 24 hours/week. No set schedule. Variable days and number of hours with on‑call and weekend requirements.
LocationOutpatient Dialysis, Utah Dialysis Center (Salt Lake City, UT).
Essential Functions- Provide dialysis care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including setting up the dialysis machine, initiating, monitoring, and terminating therapy as per provider orders.
- Recognize problems, demonstrate appropriate immediate action, and notify responsible parties promptly.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and caregivers by adhering to all established Intermountain policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Document patient care appropriately in the electronic health record.

Required (Uncertified)
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers prior to start date.
- Obtain Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certification within 18 months of hire or vacate the role.
Required (Certified)
- Hold current Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) certification.
- Maintain an active CCHT or CHT certification to remain in this role.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers prior to start date.
Preferred
- Dialysis experience.
- Experience in a regulated healthcare environment.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Evaluate and interpret color‑coded test results on test strips.
- Frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care and accessing information.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision.
- Lift and transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to heavy items.
- Assist with transporting/ambulating patients, and push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
- Navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords on the floor.
- Stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
- If driving is part of the role, sit, see, and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
