Field Laboratory Representative

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens
  • Collect urine specimens from patients, ensuring proper identification and documentation
  • Conduct observed and/or supervised specimen collections, including direct observation, mirror, or camera-assisted collection methods
  • Follow departmental policies to correctly identify patients before specimen collection
  • Label and document specimens accurately, preparing them for shipment
  • Demonstrate customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA guidelines when handling specimens
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment at all times
  • Notify supervisors of low shift volume, unusual problems, or procedural deviations
  • Order processing and office supplies as needed
Required Skills
  • Verifiable experience providing excellent customer service
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Strong computer skills, including ability to work with multiple programs, manage email, and generate reports
  • Fast and accurate data entry skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
Additional Skills & Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physical capacity for activities including walking, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and squatting
  • Previous experience in specimen collection or healthcare support roles is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare-related certifications are preferred
  • This is a temporary, ongoing position with a schedule Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in a clinical setting in the region
