Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Recruitment & Outreach, the Admissions Counselor supports Weber State University’s enrollment goals by recruiting prospective, transfer, and adult learner students while building relationships with schools, community partners, students, and families. This position works in the Ogden campus and travels extensively within the assigned territory to represent the university and support student recruitment efforts.

Extensive travel is required to support recruitment activities, including overnight and extended periods. Must have the ability to work independently while maintaining accountability, initiative, and productivity. Periodic weekend and after-hours work.

Job Duties
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy for prospective undergraduate students in assigned in and out-of-state territories.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, community partners, alumni, and other stakeholders to support enrollment goals and increase Weber State University’s visibility.
  • Guide prospective students, including new freshmen, transfer students, and adult learners, through the admissions and enrollment process by providing personalized support through various communication channels, answering questions, addressing concerns, assisting with application completion, and supporting students through enrollment.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret enrollment and recruitment data within assigned territories to identify trends, evaluate effectiveness, and make data-informed recruitment decisions.
  • Utilize CRM systems and other data management tools to track recruitment activities, monitor applicant progress, assess communication effectiveness, and support enrollment goals.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on admissions metrics, recruitment outcomes, campaign performance, and return on investment (ROI), providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, market, and participate in recruitment events, including high school visits, college fairs, transfer fairs, community events, Utah College Application Week (UCAW), Utah High School Event Days (UHED), and other outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Admissions Ambassadors by providing training, territory-specific information, mentorship, and guidance on recruitment best practices to support outreach efforts.
  • Research enrollment patterns, student behavior, demographic trends, and retention data to refine recruitment strategies and improve engagement and conversion rates.
  • Partner with university marketing, admissions, and academic departments to develop and evaluate targeted recruitment campaigns and communication strategies.
  • Leverage regional market research, demographic data, and enrollment trends to identify recruitment opportunities and tailor outreach efforts to prospective student populations.
  • Assess the effectiveness of communication throughout the admissions funnel and recommend strategies to improve student engagement, application completion, and enrollment conversion.
  • Utilize historical enrollment data and predictive analytics to forecast recruitment outcomes, identify high-potential student populations, and inform strategic planning efforts.
