Position: IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC)

Overview

Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

It is located in the DISA - HCA/Operations and Command Division.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for analyzing and resolving a complete range of problems within the scope of the activity operations.
  • Serves as the IT Specialist for customer on-boarding and ongoing service delivery, owning the full life cycle of application installations, schedules, and post-implementation support.
  • Analyze and resolve complex operational issues, define performance requirements, and support policies, and lead rapid-response actions during catastrophic events.
  • Working with implementation teams, translate design specs into functional solutions, produce user manuals, and embed rigorous security and compliance controls.
  • Conduct trend analyses to identify training needs, develop targeted training programs, and maintain a knowledge-base of resolutions, while continuously evaluating new tools and technologies.
  • Engage senior internal stakeholders, external vendors, and consultants to influence and secure adoption of technical recommendations.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to classified information and eligibility to have the appropriate security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) up to 5 percent of the time.
Qualifications

Basic Requirement

Undergraduate or Graduate

Education:

Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Attention to Detail - experience reviewing information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Work or the data produced is typically reviewed by a supervisor or colleague.

Customer Service - experience having brief contact with customers to provide information about available information technology products and services and providing standard products or routine services to address IT needs.

Oral Communication - experience informing a supervisor and other IT staff of the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including the ability to communicate basic technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving - identifying or selecting from alternatives to address routine IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from standard sources that provide a limited number of solutions.
