CMDB Modernization Engineer D42

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Build and configure CMDB structures, CI types, and relationship mappings within the D42 platform in support of cPMO, Cyber, Ops, and eITSM WIPT MVP and IOC charter deliverables.

• Implement and configure discovery tool integrations within D42, ensuring accurate and automated identification and inventory of enterprise IT assets across the Hill AFB environment.

• Develop and maintain data pipeline connections between D42 and enterprise systems (e.g., monitoring tools, network management systems) to support automated CI population and relationship enrichment.

• Design and implement Device
42-to-JSM/Jira/Confluence integration frameworks supporting DoW-compliant configuration and change management, linking CI relationship data to automated change workflows, customer-facing service portals, and live governance documentation to deliver a closed-loop CRM function across program, end-user, and audit accountability layers.

• Execute configuration mapping, data normalization, and data quality remediation tasks to ensure CMDB accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all CI classes and relationship types.

• Coordinate with network, systems, and application engineering teams to validate CI relationships, resolve data conflicts, and ensure the CMDB reflects the current-state enterprise IT environment.

• Develop and maintain CMDB governance and technical documentation, including CI class definitions, relationship schema, data quality standards, D42 configuration records, integration runbooks, and discovery configuration guides, to support knowledge transfer, audit accountability, and program continuity.

• Assist in identifying and resolving discovery gaps, stale CI records, and relationship mapping errors to continuously improve CMDB data fidelity and operational reliability.

• Support the CMDB Modernization Project Manager in sprint planning by providing accurate estimates, progress updates, and technical input required to maintain schedule and resolve engineering dependencies.

• Collaborate with Government stakeholders, WIPT leads, and contractor teams to ensure D42 CMDB configurations and integrations support cPMO, Cyber, Ops, and eITSM mission requirements and deliver against defined MVP and IOC milestones within the Period of Performance.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements

Education Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Certifications

Required:

• Active Secret clearance (Required).

• ITIL Foundation or higher (Preferred).

• CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification (Preferred).

• Service Now Certified System Administrator or CMDB-related certification (Preferred).
Experience

Required:

• 5+ years of professional experience in IT asset management, configuration management, or CMDB engineering within enterprise or federal environments.

• Hands-on experience with D42 or comparable CMDB platforms (e.g., Service Now CMDB, Lansweeper) including discovery configuration, CI relationship mapping, and integration development.

• Experience implementing IT asset discovery tools and configuring data pipeline connections between CMDB platforms and enterprise systems (ITSM, monitoring, network management).

• Experience performing configuration mapping, data normalization, and data quality remediation within enterprise CMDB environments.

• Experience supporting Hill AFB or Air Force programs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge:

• Knowledge of CMDB architecture, CI data models, and relationship mapping methodologies sufficient to design and build accurate, complete CMDB structures within Device
42 supporting enterprise ITSM processes.

• Knowledge of IT asset discovery methodologies and tools, including network scanning, agent-based and agentless discovery, and the integration of discovery outputs into CMDB platforms for automated CI population and reconciliation.
