Category Manager

US Foods is seeking a Category Manager - Produce to lead strategy, sourcing, and merchandising for fresh produce across our wholesale network. In this role, you will analyze category performance, forecast demand, and build vendor partnerships to secure quality, competitively priced products. You will optimize pricing, assortment, and promotions to support sales growth and margin goals while ensuring food safety and quality standards.

Collaborating with sales, supply chain, and operations, you'll drive execution, reduce waste, and support customers in restaurants, healthcare, and hospitality nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategy for fresh produce across the US Foods network.
• Analyze sales, margin, and inventory data to optimize assortment, pricing, and promotions.
• Source and negotiate with produce suppliers to secure quality, cost-effective products.
• Collaborate with sales, supply chain, and operations to support customer needs and reduce waste.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory standards for produce.
• Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to balance availability and shrink.
• Monitor market trends and competitive activity to inform category decisions.
• Support national and regional merchandising programs and marketing initiatives.
• Manage vendor performance, contracts, and service level expectations.
• Provide category insights and training to internal stakeholders and sales teams.
