Position SummaryOperate and maintain spray drying equipment in a pharmaceutical products manufacturing facility. Pay ranges from $20-$22 per hour depending on experience, plus a $1.50 differential pay for night shift.
Essential Functions- Understand raw material blending and finished goods packaging functions.
- Be familiar with inventory control procedures and production batch records.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment is in good working order.
- Operate the spray dryer using proper cores and orifices, cleaning or replacing them when necessary.
- Check spray patterns and make corrections as needed.
- Record equipment readings and product moisture, noting any discrepancies.
- Document any problems or peculiarities in the finished product.
- Determine special packaging requirements.
- Sample finished product and test for proper moisture content, color, and consistency.
- Maintain adequate product supply for drying.
- Oversee cleaning of equipment and surrounding areas.
- Participate in team activities and contribute to achieving annual departmental goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical field.
- Must possess high‑school level reading, math, and comprehension skills.
Position may require walking or standing for long periods; reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting.
Frequent relocation of 100–200 lb fiber barrels and 55 lb bags required.
Exposure to powder, heavy equipment, and a loud manufacturing atmosphere.
Manufacturing environment with exposure to powder mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty conditions, hazardous materials, and heavy lifting.
In accordance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR ), Balchem employees in production, quality, R&D, and maintenance must complete annual fit testing (clean shaven required) and medical clearance (respirator medical certification). When required to wear a respirator, wearers must wear it as fit tested.
