Job Summary
Assistant Miller – rotating 12‑hour shifts that alternate between day and night on a monthly basis.
Typical schedule:
7:00AM to 7:00PM and 7:00PM to 7:00AM. For example, Week1: 48 hours (Monday off, Tuesday/Wednesday on, Thursday/Friday off, Saturday/Sunday on). Week2: 36 hours (Monday on, Tuesday/Wednesday off, Thursday/Friday on, Saturday/Sunday off).
- Operate and maintain milling and wheat‑cleaning equipment, ensuring all wheat and flour meet specifications.
- Support the shift miller and run cleaning‑house operations while adhering to Food Safety Policies and GMPs.
- Complete sanitation and IPM tasks and follow 5S, AMPS, and Centerline process tools.
- Perform routine preventative checks and mill repair as needed.
- Accurately follow the schedule for wheat blending and provide feedback.
- Test and monitor product throughout milling and cleaning processes.
- Maintain sanitation standards to provide a safe, food‑safe work environment.
- Document activities and inventories using computer or paper systems.
- Communicate effectively with management, team members, and customers.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent).
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new programs.
- Mechanical aptitude and intermediate troubleshooting ability.
- Understanding of safety behaviors in a production environment.
- Previous mill production experience is an advantage.
- Ability to read, interpret instruction, and communicate effectively in English.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to perform overtime as required.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, climb stairs or ladders, and work in a dusty, noisy environment.
- Acceptance of drug testing and pre‑employment background check.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Consistent wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, protective footwear, hard hat, hearing protection, and respirator when required.
- Work in a machine‑paced continuous process that operates 24/7.
- Work may involve hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, indoor/outdoor settings, dusty environment with wheat/gluten allergens, noisy surroundings, and hazardous vibrations.
- Frequent standing, walking, rotating, bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching, and lifting at varying heights.
- Occasional lifting, shoveling, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Work in confined or elevated places and the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Competitive base pay ranging from $21.10 to $28.17 per hour, with potential for additional earnings.
