Position: NDT Technician Lv 2 - (Titanium FPI) Graveyard Shift - Ogden, UT

Job Description

Responsible for performing quality inspections using various NDT methods (X‑Ray [Film and CR], Penetrant, and Magnetic Particle testing). Responsibilities include processing, inspecting, and evaluating surface and subsurface discontinuities and accepting, rejecting, or reworking hardware in accordance with customer specifications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Certifies product that is in conformance with customer specifications and maintains traceability to such certification as is applicable.
  • May create NDT techniques and work instructions.
  • Performs penetrant, X‑ray, and magnetic particle inspections and interprets results.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibrations on NDT equipment.
  • Operates vapor degreaser and performs necessary process checks.
  • Properly processes, sorts, and verifies X‑ray film.
  • Performs etch, passivation and electropolish as needed.
  • Grinds, finishes, and sandblasts parts as needed.
  • Communicates closely with engineers on scrap, rework and process issues.
  • Maintains lot integrity.
  • Ensures paperwork is properly done.
  • Helps other areas as needed.
  • May be required to take hazardous waste training.
Special Skills and

Physical Requirements
  • Meets all requirements to certify in RT, PT and/or MP.
  • Has demonstrated in‑depth knowledge of inspections & components to established standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and a firm understanding of gauging and measuring equipment.
  • Effective communication with tact and diplomacy to achieve desired results.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; able to write simple correspondence.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Able to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs continuously.
  • Near vision requirement is Jaeger J1 for both eyes, at no less than 12 inches; or equivalent. Color perception required annually (Ishihara test).
  • Able to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to pass PCC NDT certifications required by in‑house Plant Level II.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co‑workers.
  • Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including attendance policy.
  • Able to meet individual productivity requirements.
  • Able to meet internal quality requirements.
Desired Competencies
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear‑cut policies.
  • May work with hazardous or caustic chemicals and hazardous waste.
  • Works in wet or humid conditions; exposure to fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation.
  • Occasional walking, reaching above shoulder level, and talking required.
  • Frequent stooping or squatting, hearing, pushing or pulling required.
  • Continuous standing, using hands, reaching below shoulder level required.
  • Typical noise level is loud; appropriate ear protection required.
