Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently run production equipment to produce high‑quality electrical copper wire.
- Work to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and all teammates.
- Learn additional aspects of production processes across multiple lines, such as drawing, bunching, and extrusion, as tenure grows.
- Utilize computer controls to operate production equipment.
- Manually pick, load, and maneuver materials and products to, on, and from the production line.
- Run production equipment to prescribed guides consistently to achieve daily production goals.
- Ensure finished product is claimed in the system, labeled, and placed in the correct area as it is completed on the line.
- Perform hourly, end‑of‑basket, and end‑of‑reel quality checks to ensure product meets quality standards according to the quality and usage check process.
- Document quality check results in applicable systems and place products into assigned bins.
- Handle material movement around the plant and property as needed.
- Update the line LDM board throughout the shift with required information regarding line operations, maintenance, and safety.
- Seek clarification when unclear and obtain a full understanding of tasks or standards.
- Work overtime as needed for training, projects, inventory, and production.
- Immediately stop any action that could cause injury or damage if an unsafe action, process, or environment is observed, and report it to the leadership team.
- Build, maintain, and continue to improve the 6S process in your assigned area.
- Support 6S efforts across the plant floor and property on every shift.
- Maintain good housekeeping around lines, the production floor, and communal areas.
- Assist on the production floor as assigned by leadership with duties outside of production equipment, including cleaning, organizing products, supplies, and materials, supporting other operators, and supporting maintenance projects.
- Complete required trainings, policy review and acknowledgement, attend meetings, and perform inventory management.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
- Must be able to read, write, and interpret production orders in English.
- Must obtain and maintain Cerro Wire forklift certification.
- Must follow instructions, adapt to a changing environment, and work well with others.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a pre‑employment background check, drug screening, and physical assessment.
Operators are constantly exposed to elevated levels of noise and various materials including nylon, PVC, machine fluids, cleaning products, and more. The work environment is a warehouse‑type setting without climate control, with consistent exposure to hot or cold conditions. Exposure to the elements may be required. Physical activity includes continuous standing and walking, grasping, frequent lifting, stooping, pulling, and pushing. Operators must be able to grasp, lift, carry, shift, push, and pull 50+ pounds throughout a 12‑hour shift.
