- Job Description

Our client is seeking an Expander Operator to join its aerospace manufacturing team in Ogden, Utah. This position is responsible for setting up and operating hot and cold expansion equipment used to manufacture precision aerospace components while ensuring all products meet strict quality and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, press operations, heat treat, metal forming, or other precision production environments.

Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading experience, and a commitment to quality and safety are encouraged to apply.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate hot and cold expansion equipment used in the manufacturing of precision aerospace components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, station plans, and manufacturing documentation prior to beginning work.
  • Prepare parts for expansion by performing required surface preparation, including painting and coating applications.
  • Verify machine setups and make adjustments as necessary to ensure parts meet engineering and quality specifications.
  • Monitor process parameters including temperature controllers, digital recorders, and thermocouple readings throughout production.
  • Perform first article inspections and verify dimensions before continuing production runs.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including gauges and other inspection tools.
  • Perform deburring, grinding, and other metal finishing operations as required.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve non-conformances.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and record labor and production data.
  • Operate equipment safely while working around high temperatures, chemicals, lifting devices, and industrial machinery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience reading blueprints and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Experience inspecting production parts using gauges, measuring equipment, or precision inspection tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with metal finishing, deburring, grinding, machining, fabrication, or similar manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment or production issues with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in high-temperature manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Basic computer and production documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
