Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Wildcat Advantage and Internship Department is dedicated to connecting students with High Impact Educational Experiences. The internship side of our department is dedicated to connecting students with valuable work experience opportunities. We believe in empowering students to grow professionally and gain practical skills. We are looking to establish a strong social media presence to better connect with students and promote internship opportunities and information.
We are seeking a dynamic Social Media & Events Intern to help build and manage our Instagram presence while supporting student‑centered events that highlight internships and Wildcat Advantage opportunities. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys content creation, storytelling, and event engagement.
You will play a key role in shaping our digital voice, promoting internship opportunities, and helping students understand how to get involved in HIEEs.
Responsibilities- Develop Instagram Strategy: Create and implement a social media plan for Wildcat Advantage & Internships, with a strong focus on student engagement.
- Create Social Media Content: Produce graphics, short videos, reels, and stories that highlight internships, student experiences, and upcoming events.
- Design Reusable Templates: Build branded Canva templates to ensure consistency across posts and future campaigns.
- Support Events: Assist with planning, promoting, and staffing events that showcase internships and Wildcat Advantage milestones.
- Maintain Brand Identity: Ensure all visuals and messaging align with Wildcat Advantage and Internships branding.
- Monitor Trends: Track student‑focused social media trends and recommend opportunities for increased visibility.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with the Internships team to translate program goals into compelling digital content.
- Manage Multiple Projects: Balance content creation, event support, and ongoing campaigns while meeting deadlines.
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to design and execute cohesive social media campaigns that integrate branding, content creation, event promotion, and engagement strategies. The intern will gain hands‑on experience creating reusable content systems, and supporting events that drive student participation in internships and Wildcat Advantage activities.
Required Qualifications- Sophomore or Junior academic standing.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Eligible for on-campus employment and have completed the current year’s FAFSA (for U.S. citizens).
- Familiarity with Instagram and other social media platforms.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) is a plus.
- Strong portfolio showcasing creativity and understanding of social media trends is a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to work within brand guidelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- A full‑time undergraduate student at Weber State University, majoring in Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
