About This RoleAs a Neurohospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP; nurse practitioner or physician assistant) at McKay-Dee Hospital, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. You will be one of 3 Neurohospitalist APPs, working alongside 3 Neurohospitalist physicians, and part of the Intermountain Canyons Region Neurosciences Service Line, including in-person and tele-neurohospitalists, neuro critical care physicians, outpatient neurologists, neuro and spine PM&R physicians, neuro-psychologists and psychiatrists.
InThis Role You Can Anticipate
- Practicing at McKay-Dee Neurology Clinic in Ogden, Utah
- 7 11-hour shifts in a 14-day period, rotating weekends and holidays
- 7a-6p shifts; no nights or after-hours call
- Salaried; additional compensation < 80 hours per pay-period
A typical day on service will include inpatient rounding, stroke education to stroke patients, performing clinical coordinator tasks on all neurology primary patients, assisting in tele-neurocritical care rounding in ICU, assisting during code stroke, admitting and discharging patients. In addition to hospital responsibilities, the APP will provide follow up care in stroke clinic 1-2 hours per day. While often working independently, each day will begin with discussing patients and their plans of care with the attending physician.
Physician collaboration is also available as needed throughout the day.
- Background in hospital medicine or acute care experience, with a significant interest in neurology, stroke, and stroke prevention.
- APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program.
- Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one.
- BLS certification and DEA.
- Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication, listening, and quick understanding, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex equipment with precision and accuracy; frequent computer use and typing.
- Expected to lift and use full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment; typical items vary in weight, including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, obtain and distribute supplies and equipment; push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, often navigating crowded rooms.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Hourly range: $56.76 - $87.59 (actual hourly rate dependent upon experience).
