Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.

Essential Functions
  • Assess: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills). Seeks and evaluates information from interdisciplinary team members: patient, family, physician, non‑nursing disciplines, support staff, others.
  • Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care. Actively involves patient, family, team, and physician in plan of care including necessary education. Plans for patients to move to further support when current episode outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow‑up).
  • Implement: Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provides or delegates care consistent with plan, guidelines, and licensure provisions. Sets priorities, coordinates resources, and manages time effectively.
  • Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions, reviewing goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction. Revises plan of care as indicated and reassesses changes.
  • Professionalism: Promotes the nursing profession, participates in development of others, integrates legal and ethical standards, complies with regulations, practices within scope of licensure, documents accurately, and understands legal implications of care delivery.

Full‑time, variable shifts with a combination of 8‑ and 12‑hour shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice; compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of employment start.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution; verification required.
  • BSN required as of the last update on 4/27/2025; employees hired or promoted prior to that date are held to prior requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need to see, read labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent verbal communication and rapid response during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for operating complex equipment and frequent computer use for documentation, medication preparation, etc.
  • Ability to lift, transfer patients, bend, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including items up to heavy weights.
  • Capacity to walk and assist in transporting/ambulating patients and moving supplies and equipment, often navigating crowded rooms.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods.
  • For driving roles: ability to drive a vehicle, requiring sitting, seeing, reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Location

Intermountain Health McKay‑Dee Hospital, Ogden, Utah.

Scheduled Weekly Hours

36 hours per week.

Salary

The hourly rate ranges from $34.53 to $52.25, dependent upon experience.
