Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a travel contract at a Level III NICU facility in Ogden, UT, working night shifts with required certifications including BLS, NRP, and ACLS.

Details
  • Level III NICU in a hospital setting with a 17-bed unit (capacity up to 22 beds)
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three shifts per week (72 hours per pay period)
  • 8-week contract
  • Patient ratios: 1:3 for feeder/grower patients; 1:2 for higher acuity patients
  • Equipment used includes ventilators, CR monitors, Vapotherm, CPAP, and IV systems
  • Documentation via Meditech and paper flow sheets
  • Every other weekend required
  • One on-call shift per pay period required
  • Support staff includes CNA/unit secretary (0600–0000), dedicated NICU respiratory therapy (0600–0000), Clinical Nurse Supervisor, and Charge RN
Requirements
  • Active UT or Compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, AAP card), ACLS, STABLE, and PALS — all must be from AHA or ARC and not expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment start
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience required; at least 1 year of recent NICU experience preferred
  • Level III NICU experience preferred
  • New graduates are not eligible for this position
  • Skills required:

    IV placement, Neonatal Abstinence Scoring, hypoglycemia management, and emergency/code response
  • Ability to work with families during stressful hospitalizations and communicate effectively with physicians regarding changes in patient condition
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include all neonatal-specific cares, assisting with ROP exams, and supporting physicians during bedside procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and chest tube placement
  • Unit is supported by two board-certified neonatologists and a complementary team of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
  • NIC View remote live-stream cameras are available for family use
  • Experienced RN team available as a resource in a supportive work environment
  • Facility-provided Women's and Children's-specific scrubs are required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
