The position of Outside Sales is primarily responsible for selling, marketing, and promoting HVAC products and services within the construction industry. This role also involves generating sales to new customers and selling additional products to existing customers.
$75,000 – $95,000 per year, DOE.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Meets established sales quotas and revenue goals by selling, marketing, promoting, and demonstrating products to new customers and through additional sales to existing customers.
- Prospects for new accounts, follows up on sales leads, and maintains relationships within a specified geographical territory or region.
- Pursues product applications by utilizing personal knowledge, internal specialists, vendor representatives, and other sources. Determines market strategies and goals for each product line.
- Establishes and maintains customer relationships. Learns and evaluates customer operations to aid in identifying customer objectives, requirements and preferences. Works with sales support staff to establish communication pathways with the customer to ensure sales opportunities for product lines.
- Develops sales and marketing proposals, processes product quotations, finalizes contracts, and provides continuous follow‑up throughout the purchasing cycle.
- Coordinates and directs teams to obtain data for large projects and high‑tech automation issues.
- Gathers and reports market data regarding the company, competitors, pricing, products and current and future trends; assists management in planning, tracking and implementing sales strategies and developing new markets.
- Participates in sales forecasting by researching, developing, and maintaining long‑ and short‑range sales and marketing plans. Produces sales reports through monitoring, analyzing, and communicating data.
- Maintains technical expertise, attends seminars, schools, and training to enhance knowledge on products, industry trends, and compliance.
- Exhibits a positive, friendly and helpful attitude toward customers and is sensitive to their needs.
- Maintains excellent attendance and meets deadlines.

Education and/or Experience- Three years of sales experience with a wholesale organization selling HVAC products and services within the construction industry.
- High School diploma or GED required; a two‑year technical degree or higher preferred.
- Must have a good driving record.
- Customer‑oriented and motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience delivering state‑of‑the‑art product offerings and keeping abreast of technology trends and application to real‑world projects.
- Formal presentation skills for both large and small group settings.
- Strong negotiation skills capable of influencing and finalizing sales decisions.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Product and application knowledge is essential.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before customer or employee groups; communicate needs accurately; develop customer presentations.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations required to accurately complete assigned tasks.
Computer SkillsIntermediate‑level knowledge of word processing software and spreadsheet software.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of variables in limited standardization, interpret instructions, use sound judgment, and recommend proper action. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
Attendance DemandsAttendance is required Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. or within normal business hours as established by the supervisor. Employee may be required to travel to different locations, work overtime, and occasional Saturdays and Sundays.
