This position supports the Exercise and Nutrition Sciences department by assisting faculty and staff with laboratory setups, data management, and outreach activities. The assistant will help set up and clean up during classroom and lab sessions, assist with cooking demo video creation and website updates, aid research projects, and help compile and format assessment data.
Specific Duties- Communicate with faculty, staff, and students engaged in undergraduate and graduate research using the human performance lab, biomechanics, nutritional biochemistry lab, food lab, greenhouse, and community garden under faculty leadership.
- Set up and clean up classroom and laboratory sessions, including exercise, physiology, biomechanics, exercise prescription, or fitness testing classes or labs. Shop for foods needed for a lab session or harvest items from the greenhouse and garden.
- Assist nutrition faculty with creating and managing videos for the cooking demo database and website.
- Assist ENS faculty members with research projects in the human performance lab, biomechanics lab, WSD, ENS lab, and nutritional biochemistry lab.
- Participate in set up and cleanup of ENS and/or nutrition laboratory classes under the direction of an ENS faculty or staff member.
- Compile data using Excel and other database software.
- Format assessments for delivery and outcome measurement.
- Participate in a pooled position; applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. The pool will expire after a period of time and applicants will be notified.

Preferred Qualifications- Undergraduate student in good standing with the University (minimum 2.0 GPA), continuously enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours in the fall and spring semesters; 6 in summer) within a major program of studies in the department of Exercise and Nutrition Science.
- Junior or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; experience with exercise assessment, fitness testing, food handling and gardening, basic science laboratory skills, computer and technology skills, data entry and analysis, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Canvas, and course management systems.
- Experience using sensitive equipment in the human performance lab and/or nutritional biochemistry lab.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with faculty and students.
