FLSA Job Summary/Basic Function
Assist The Chemistry & Biochemistry Lab Manager In- Stockroom & Daily Lab Operations – Managing setup, cleanup, chemical preparation, and maintaining chemical inventory and instructional laboratory equipment in accordance with university safety procedures.
- Student Supervision & Mentorship – Supervising, mentoring, and guiding student employees working in the stockroom.
- Administrative Support – Maintaining records of safety training, laboratory schedules, and other administrative tasks.
- Collaboration & Professional Communication – Working collaboratively with lab professors and professionally navigating high-pressure situations with multiple competing priorities.
- Continuous Improvement – Adhering to established stockroom procedures while proactively providing constructive input to the Lab Manager for ongoing process improvements.
Associate degree in chemistry or related field. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Working knowledge of chemical safety, handling, storage, and disposal.
Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience, certification, and/or interest in:
- Chemical safety, handling, storage, and disposal procedure management.
- Quality assurance and/or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Leadership, organizational abilities, and student worker mentorship.
- Clear, professional communication and multi-tasking skills under tight schedules.
