Job Summary

The Facility Security Officer (FSO) / Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) is responsible for implementing and managing Weber State University’s industrial security programs, ensuring compliance with NISPOM and government regulations (DCSA/DOE) to protect classified information. The role manages personnel and facility clearances, physical security, and security training, and serves as the primary liaison between the university and government agencies within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and its operating manual.

The CSSO aspect focuses on all aspects of Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) and Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) management, including personnel and physical security requirements per Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) and SCIF integrity.

Required Qualifications
  • Must possess and maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance at the TS/SCI level.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Industrial Security within the U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence, or contractor community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant experience with DCSA security systems, including DISS/NBIS and e-QIP.
  • Experience constructing and maintaining SCIFs, including Construction Security Plans (CSP), access control, alarm monitoring, and ICD 705 compliance.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, particularly for liaising with government agencies and conducting training.
  • Strong attention to detail for meticulous record‑keeping and auditing.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans, manage multiple priorities, and work with minimal supervision.

Physical Activity

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.; use of feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Agility emphasized. Walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Bending at waist or knee; lifting with proper technique; operating equipment; pressing or exerting force; carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Physical Requirements

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Visual acuity required for reading, analysis, operating a computer terminal, examining small defects, and general observation.

Work Environment Conditions

Both indoor and outdoor environments. May be exposed to extreme cold (below 32°F), extreme heat (above 100°F), noise, vibration, hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts or electrical current, and atmospheric conditions like fumes, dust, mist, or gases. Close quarters may present claustrophobic challenges.
