Early entry cutting is a specialized process used to control cracking in freshly poured concrete slabs. On large commercial and industrial projects, we mobilize heavy‑duty early entry saws (such as Husqvarna Soff-Cut and Core Cut machines) to cut contraction joints within hours after finishing, while the concrete is still green. This allows us to create clean, controlled joints that prevent random cracking and protect the long‑term performance of the slab.
On a big scale, early entry cutting involves:
- Coordinating multiple saws and crews to keep pace with large pours.
- Cutting thousands of linear feet of joints across slabs up to hundreds of thousands of square feet.
- Working under tight time windows, often overnight, to ensure every slab is cut before shrinkage stresses set in.
- Following engineered joint layouts precisely to maintain structural integrity and floor flatness.
Wet cutting is used for deeper, heavier cuts through hardened concrete, structural slabs, walls, and pavement. Our crews operate high‑horsepower walk‑behind saws, wall saws, and hand saws, applying water cooling systems to control dust, reduce blade wear, and improve cutting efficiency.
At scale, wet cutting operations include:
- Making long, continuous cuts for slab removal, trenches, or large‑scale demolition.
- Managing water delivery, slurry control, and cleanup for safe and efficient operations.
- Running diesel and electric saws capable of cutting several inches to over a foot in depth.
- Maintaining precision and safety while handling large demanding conditions.
- Safely operate early entry saws to cut control joints in freshly placed concrete on large‑scale pours.
- Perform wet cutting with walk‑behind, hand‑held, and wall saws for structural and slab work.
- Follow engineered joint layouts and project specifications with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Manage water supply, slurry control, and cleanup during wet cutting operations.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot saws, blades, vacuums, and support equipment daily.
- Work with supervisors and crews to coordinate cutting schedules and meet tight deadlines.
- Adhere to OSHA silica safety standards and Patriot
