A day in the life Morning in Ogden starts with your preventive maintenance list. You review work orders from the Maintenance Supervisor, grab your meter and wire-pulling gear, and head to a process line where a motor isn’t behaving. You trace circuits, verify compatibility and safety, and bring the system back online. After lunch, you install conduit, pull new wire to a controls panel, and update preventive maintenance records.
You finish by coaching a junior craftsperson on safe splicing techniques, tidying the work area, and returning tools and documentation to their designated spots.

Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor What you’ll tackle
Troubleshoot electrical systems and repair or replace defective components to restore equipment performance.
Install and service building electrical systems in accordance with National Electrical Code requirements.
Maintain, test, and repair electrical circuitry and equipment to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
Execute preventive maintenance on electrical apparatus, equipment, facilities, and systems; document and maintain PM records.
Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using appropriate hand and power tools.
Repair/replace switches, fuses, controls, contractors, breakers, and related hardware.
Receive and follow oral and written instructions; notify the supervisor of irregularities or malfunctions per established procedures.
Coordinate area activities with the central maintenance shop; assist other maintenance technicians and engineers.
Train other crafts persons as assigned and periodically direct lower-classified craft personnel.
Observe all safety rules; keep a clean, organized workspace and return tools, unused materials, and references to designated locations.
Tools, materials, and systems you’ll handle
Electrical test instruments; hand and power tools; tube benders; splicing tools; wire-pulling equipment.
Wire, contractors, switches, motors, breakers, fuses, and miscellaneous electrical hardware.
Process equipment and chemicals; programmable logic controls; motors, process pumps and controls; building construction and handling equipment.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Applicable education from a trade or technical school in industrial electrical maintenance may count toward part of the experience requirement.
Five (5) years of electrical craft experience, including at least three (3) years specifically in industrial electrical maintenance.
