As a Stage Technician, you will assist with the set‑up, strike, and run of all shows that take place at the Val
A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts (VBC). You will be trained while working through hands‑on experience on departmental, university and professional touring company shows. The VBC facilitates over 200 events a year; hours vary depending on show schedules. Most shifts take place in the afternoon and evenings with very few morning calls. Pay starts at $10 per hour and will be adjusted according to skill level and motivation to excel in stage management, lighting, sound, A/V, rigging, and other related skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Perform minor physical labor.
- Not afraid of heights.
- Interest in sound, lighting, A/V, or stage management.
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.; bending, balancing, walking, standing, carrying, operating equipment, and other physical tasks as described in the detailed list above.
Physical RequirementsLight to medium physical work, including occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, standing, and movement across work sites.
Visual Acuity RequirementsAbility to perform tasks requiring color, depth perception, field of vision, use of computer, reading, writing, and field observations.
Conditions of WorkThe worker will be subject to environmental, noise, hazard, atmospheric, and forced‑air conditions as described.
