Early Start

Schedule:

• 6:00 AM – Safety Setup:
  Safety harness, anchor points, ladder placement. Dallas is strict about fall protection — every crew member on every job. No exceptions.
• 7:30 AM – Tear-Off:
  Remove existing shingles, felt, and any damaged sheathing. Inspect the deck — every soft spot flagged. Dallas doesn't cover up rot. It gets replaced.
• 9:00 AM – Ice & Water Shield:
  Self-adhering ice and water shield at all eaves, valleys, penetrations, and around chimneys. Utah's freeze-thaw cycles require this — Dallas doesn't skip it to save money.
• 10:00 AM – Felt and Shingles:
  Felt underlayment, then shingles from the bottom up. Proper nailing pattern, straight courses, clean valley cuts. Dallas checks alignment constantly.
• 2:00 PM – Flashing and Penetrations:
  Step flashing at chimneys and walls, pipe boots at all penetrations, ridge cap. The flashing is where most roofing failures start — Dallas does every detail right.

Roofing experience is strongly preferred. Physical fitness and comfort with heights are essential.

Previous residential roofing experience strongly preferred, including tear-off, felt, and shingle installation.

You need to be able to work on rooftops without hesitation. No fear of heights.

Roofing is one of the most physically demanding trades. Carrying bundles up ladders all day. You need to be in shape.

Dallas is strict about safety. If you don't take fall protection seriously this isn't the job for you.

Understanding of chimney, wall, and penetration flashing is a major plus.

Roofing crews start early — especially in summer. If 6 AM is a problem this isn't the right fit.
