Job DescriptionThis is a permanent positin in WCSC. Start as soon as possible.
Primary purpose: To empower students with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential, advocate for their rights and inclusion, and ensure they have the necessary support and resources to thrive academically and socially. Special education teacher will create a supportive learning environment to provide individualized support and instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring that they have access to a quality education tailored to their unique needs.
- Supports learning of students with intellectual disabilities through instruction, both individual and small group, aligned to Indiana Alternative Standards, daily living, and vocational skills.
- Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities differentiated to learner needs.
- Maintains physical environment of the classroom including visual supports and schedule.
- Assists case conference in developing individual education program (IEP) designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
- Writes IEPs for Teacher of Record students on caseload.
- Ensures general education staff have IEP and accommodation information on each student.
- Completes progress monitoring of student IEP goals at least quarterly.
- Participates in review and revision of student’s IEP, as appropriate.
- Maintains accurate student records
- Supervises classroom, students, aides and volunteers.
- Communicates to maintain positive relationships with students and their parents
- Follows legal requirements as dictated by state and federal statutes.
- Follows school district policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from accredited university.
- Indiana Teaching License.
- Strong knowledge of and use of visual supports in the classroom.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $48,000 to $92,028 Per Year
