Primary Responsibilities

The QMA is responsible for providing medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety, and comfort for residents.

Essential Functions
  • Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear drop, and other medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
  • Maintain a locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy.
  • Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by the nurse.
  • Document all medications and treatments in the medication record and nurses' notes according to policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents and their care to protect residents' rights and privacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.
Qualifications
  • CNA certified by the Indiana State Department of Health in good standing.
  • Completed a state‑approved training program in medication administration and holds current QMA certification by the Indiana State Department of Health.
  • Thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana.
  • High school diploma or GED.
