Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for preparing and educating patients and families on pre- and post-operative instructions, including recovering patients after outpatient procedures.
PRN basis: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 0600 AM – 0300 PM CST as needed
Regular attendance and reporting to work promptly are an essential part of this position.
Essential Functions- Assesses patient status on admission to pre-op or post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
- Provides safe, quality patient care to the pre-op and post-op patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities. Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
- Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
- Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections, etc.) and fill in patients’ charts.
- Administration of medications and IV fluids based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Charts patient information accurately and timely.
- Inspect the facilities and act to maintain hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds, etc.).
- Provide instant medical care in emergencies.
- Assist surgeons during procedures if required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- 1-2 years of PACU, CCU, ICU, ER experience required
- Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient Clinic experience preferred
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
Requires the physical ability and stamina (e.g., to walk/stand, talk) for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs, position/lift patients more than 50 pounds without assistance, provide CPR, etc., to perform the essential functions of the position.
