Join a high-acuity Neuro Cardiac Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for complex cardiac, neurological, surgical, and medical patients. This teaching hospital environment is ideal for experienced telemetry nurses who excel in critical thinking, cardiac monitoring, and neuro assessments.
The ideal traveler is adaptable, clinically strong, team-oriented, and comfortable managing a diverse patient population.

- Cardiac Intervention Recovery
- CVA/TIA Patients
- ICD Patients
- Complex Abdominal Surgeries
- Open Belly Procedures
- Colon Surgeries
- Oncology Patients
- Craniotomy Patients (POD
2) - Complex Medical-Surgical Telemetry Patients
- 32-Bed Neuro Cardiac Unit
- Day Shift Ratio: 1:4–5 (1:6 is rare)
- Night Shift Ratio: 1:6–7
- Charge Nurse Takes Patient Assignments
- Teaching Hospital Environment
- Active Compact RN License
- AHA BLS Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 Years of Strong Telemetry/Med Surg Experience
- Minimum 1 Completed Travel Assignment
- Trauma Level II Experience Required
- Recent EPIC Experience Required
- Charge Nurse Experience Preferred
- NIHSS Assessment
- Dysphagia Screening
- Strong Neurological Assessment Skills
- Telemetry Monitoring
- 12-Lead EKG Interpretation
- Travelers Must Pass Telemetry Testing
- Heart Cath Recovery
- Femoral Site Management
- TR Band Management
- Initiate and Titrate:
- Heparin Drips
- Insulin Drips
- Cardiac Drips
- Other Specialty Infusions
- Strong Assessment Skills
- Critical Thinking and Clinical Decision-Making
- Care of Complex Medical-Surgical Patients
- NG Tube Management
- PEG Tube Management
- Peripheral IV Insertion
- Tikosyn Dosing Experience
- Chest Tube Management
- Three weekends every six-week schedule period
- Every other holiday required
- First to float within skill set
- Potential floating to:
- Gateway Campus
- Midtown Campus (Indiana)
- Henderson Campus (Kentucky)
- Two-hour notice for cross-campus floating
- Mid-shift floating within campus may occur
- No local candidates within 40 miles
- Navy blue scrubs required
- EPIC competency validation required
- Travelers may be asked to precept students and new hires
- Three call-ins may result in contract termination
