Required Qualifications- One year of recent Med Surg RN experience
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- NIHSS certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
The Med Surg Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive high‑quality, patient‑centered care in medical‑surgical and telemetry units, assessing patient health conditions, monitoring cardiac telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs.
Essential Work Functions- Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing standards
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, document changes, and report concerns to the care team
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and assist physicians during treatments
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for recovery from medical or surgical conditions
- Document patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and outcomes, in the medical record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
- Prioritize care based on acuity and clinical needs while managing multiple patients
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control practices, hand hygiene, and PPE use
- Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, integrating them into the care plan
- Facilitate discharge planning and coordinate with external resources for smooth transition to home
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions and PC skills
- Remain stationary, move about, and move equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, push, pull, and bend
- Perform fine manipulation and push/pull during procedures or equipment use
- Work efficiently under supervision and independently, handling irregular activity schedules and close deadlines
- Visual acuity sufficient for effective communication
