This key role is responsible for the financial activity of the Master Metal operation at the PCC Airfoils site in Minerva, OH, and will serve as the Assistant Controller for the Minerva Site. The candidate will bring hands‑on expertise in standard cost accounting and systems implementation. Position reports to the Minerva site Controller.
Essential Functions- Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and institute and maintain planning and control procedures, including the cost accounting system.
- Monitor and analyze financial data, budgets and forecasts, producing financial reports and statements.
- Manage hiring, training and development of financial staff, fostering a work environment that encourages career growth.
- Review, analyze, evaluate and interpret financial forecasts and operating results, providing information on results and recommending corrective actions for unfavorable variances.
- Evaluate and approve plant capital requests prior to Division approval, and monitor and report purchase commitments and spending for all capital programs.
- Establish, monitor and maintain compliance and safeguards to ensure integrity of financial transactions and activities; ensure compliance with corporate policy including SOX.
- Prepare and evaluate periodic financial reports, ensuring outcomes comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare business activity reports, financial forecasts and annual budgets.
- Prepare statements for Flex P & L, variable, fixed, etc.
- Work with internal and external auditors concerning financial reporting.
- Implement and enforce financial functions, internal controls and procedures of the Minerva Plant accounting and general accounting.
- Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of financial results to satisfy internal, corporate, IRS, SEC and audit requirements.
- Assist in the preparation for monthly and quarterly Operations Reviews and other requirements as directed.
- Supervise personnel within the Accounting Department managing files/records that enable timely, accurate reporting of plant operations (General, Cost, Payroll, Accounts Payable).
- Review procedures to ensure generally accepted accounting principles are applied in reporting data and account analyses.
- Manage activities such as physical inventory and establish standards for the upcoming physical year.
- Ensure monthly closing activities are met to guarantee timely reporting of activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with standard costing in a manufacturing environment.
- System implementation and project management expertise.
- Analytical skills for business and financial data.
- Expertise in technical accounting, budgeting, planning and internal controls.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead a group.
- Proficiency in financial reporting systems and related software.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to present information and data in an understandable and logical manner.
- Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or CPA preferred.
- 8+ years progressive experience in a finance manufacturing leadership role.
- Working knowledge of ERPs and financial reporting systems.
- Strong knowledge of spreadsheet software packages.
- Infrequent tasks: kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, walking of rough surfaces.
- Occasional tasks: ladder climbing, other climbing, near moving machinery.
- Frequent tasks: sitting in a chair for extended periods, 8‑12 hours of desk work.
