Roetzel & Andress LPA, a multi-state law firm with an administrative center in Fairlawn, Ohio, has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounting Assistant to support the Accounting Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply incoming payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to client accounts and invoices in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts and investigate discrepancies in payment applications.
- Coordinate with clients, attorneys and team members regarding payment details, remittance information, unapplied or misapplied payments and ensure proper account adjustments
- Respond timely and accurately to client and team member questions/requests within the firm's ticketing system.
- Process client account adjustments
- Reconcile client accounts
- Prepare and send daily financial reports
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cash application workflows.
- Assist with other accounting tasks, as needed.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Experience in3E, Elite, Aderant, or similar legal software applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong integrity and commitment to confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
The candidate must also pass a credit and background check as a condition for employment.
