Job Description

What You’ll Do (BORM):

  • Requires considerable knowledge of records management in order to review inmate records to ensure compliance with sex offender registration laws and DNA testing requirements
  • Operates law‑enforcement computer systems (e.g., LEADS, Offender Watch, and computer terminals) to receive and transmit confidential information
  • Research LEADS for pending warrants and detainers
  • Advises inmates of pending detainers and prepares necessary documentation for speedy trial when requested in accordance with Interstate Agreement on Detainers (TAD) and/or Ohio Revised Code
  • Authorizes release of inmates to temporary custody of local courts and out‑of‑state agencies under TAD
  • Utilizes Out to Court Management system
  • Serves as liaison between institution staff and law‑enforcement to schedule transports for court hearings
  • Maintains and updates inmate records by scanning information to OnBase document management system
  • Enters information into DOTS Portal as needed; enters appropriate status and reason codes into DOTS Portal
  • Maintains correspondence with other agencies and responds to inmate inquiries; completes other record office functions as assigned
  • Attends meetings, trainings and conferences
  • May give presentations and conduct training
  • Responds both verbally and in writing to questions and concerns
  • Works on special projects and/or committees as assigned
Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals & percentages, and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 1 course or 3 months experience in records management (e.g., record retention, document management, confidentiality).
