Independent Automotive Repair Shop

Location: Plain City, OH
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
Pay Rate: $30–$55 per flagged hour
Pay Type: Flat Rate
Pay Schedule: Twice monthly (5th and 20th)
Typical Flagged Hours: Approximately 40 per week

About the Shop

This professionally managed independent repair shop is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join its team in Plain City, Ohio. The shop services approximately 80–85 vehicles each week, providing consistent workflow in a fully heated and air-conditioned facility. Technicians work on a diverse mix of Domestic, Asian, European, fleet, and light diesel vehicles while being supported by dedicated Service Advisors, a General Manager, and a Quality Technician.

With modern equipment, strong front-office support, and efficient shop processes, technicians can stay focused on inspections, diagnostics, and quality repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and identify maintenance and repair opportunities.
  • Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) on every repair order using Tekmetric.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns using modern diagnostic equipment.
  • Utilize Autel and Snap-on diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair vehicle concerns.
  • Perform general automotive maintenance and repair on Domestic, Asian, European, fleet, and light diesel vehicles.
  • Remove and replace engines and transmissions.
  • Complete timing chain and head gasket repairs.
  • Build accurate repair orders with labor times and parts information.
  • Communicate repair findings clearly with the front-office team while Service Advisors manage customer communication and parts sourcing.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of professional automotive repair experience.
  • A-Level or B-Level mechanical and diagnostic ability.
  • Strong vehicle inspection and automotive diagnostic skills.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical concerns; electrical diagnostic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to remove and replace engines and transmissions.
  • ASE certifications are preferred.
  • Experience with Tekmetric or Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) systems is preferred; training is available.
  • State inspection, emissions, DOT, or other automotive certifications are preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Flat-rate pay: $30–$55 per flagged hour, based on experience.
  • Approximately 40 flagged hours per week on average.
