Job Summary
We are actively seeking an EHS Coordinator to join our team on 2nd Shift (core schedule, Monday through Friday 2:00pm to 10:30pm). The role supports safety, health, quality, cost and delivery goals for Jefferson Industries Corp.
Responsibilities Safety- Create and manage safety programs in compliance with regulatory requirements, to ensure safe working conditions for all associates and contractors.
- Monitor work practices throughout the company to ensure associates follow safety practices and policies.
- Develop and deliver safety training and ergonomics programs.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and compliance.
- Maintain OSHA record‑keeping, inspections and compliance.
- Maintain first‑aid supplies and internal safety permit programs (e.g., hot work).
- Ensure safety‑training records are maintained and up to date.
- Stay aware of new and changing safety regulations and apply them to company operations.
- Lead Safety Committee activities and attend safety council meetings as needed.
- Coordinate root‑cause analysis for post‑incident investigations.
- Apply PDCA cycle problem‑resolution techniques to sustain safety practices.
- Cooperate fully and accurately with third‑party regulatory safety investigations.
- Perform safety risk assessments as required.
- Analyze safety incident records to prevent recurring incidents and minimize workers’ compensation costs.
- Assist with the development of risk management and EHS department budget and costs.
- Support workers’ compensation claims and resolutions (e.g., attending hearings, providing supporting documentation, cooperating with third‑party administrator investigations).
- Track and coordinate the investigation and counter‑measures for safety incidents.
- Ensure new‑hire safety training is performed and effective.
- Develop and manage periodic safety and environmental content and coordinate with training functions (Lockout, Hazcom, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Awareness, etc.).
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Administer first responder and first‑aid programs, participate and perform training.
- Implement EHS objectives in partnership with the team.
- Co‑EMR for ISO
14001 program. - Seek new assignments, propose improved work methods, and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality and share information on a “need‑to‑know” basis.
- Direct EHS Coordinator activities as delegated by the EHS Manager.
- Participate in the business plan process.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate with associates, management, other department managers and senior management.
- Strong leadership to provide direction and motivation to team members.
- Problem‑solving skills to quickly assess situations and identify solutions.
- Time‑management skills to develop task lists and ensure on‑time implementation.
- Computer skills with basic Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to prepare reports and presentations.
- B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience with safety themes applicable to a manufacturing environment.
- Completion of OSHA 10‑hour training (OSHA 30‑hour training sought).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and professionally present instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Proficiency with basic arithmetic and rate, ratio, percent calculations.
