Job Description

This position is vital in overseeing Open Sky Project (OSP) Construction activities carried out by contractors. The Fiber Construction Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that contractor-produced work meets or exceeds quality standards, while also guaranteeing that projects are completed according to design and within budget.

This role demands excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as you'll coordinate extensively with state and local municipalities in addition to other utilities or departments. The Fiber Construction Supervisor ensures contractor compliance with state, local, and company requirements, particularly when working within public right-of-way (ROW) or utility easements. Teamwork is essential, as you will partner closely with the Construction Supervisor and the OSP Engineer, as well as collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Logistics, Contract Administration, ISP Engineering/COE, and Project Management.

In addition to overseeing construction, this position supports various functions within the company, including sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory affairs. You will also take on responsibilities as assigned by the Manager or Director of Engineering.

  • Project scheduling—meet project timelines
  • Conduct project inspections—both pre and post
  • Manage materials effectively
  • Utilize the Job Information Management (JIM) process as necessary
  • Ensure accurate reporting—handling invoicing and timesheets

  • Strong knowledge of OSP Construction Standards and Practices
  • Deep understanding of OSP Unit Descriptions and SSP contracts
  • Solid knowledge of state, local, and company safety standards
  • A minimum of five years of combined experience in Outside Plant construction and splicing

  • Candidates must be flexible regarding overtime, willing to be on-call for nights and weekends, and prepared to work as required to meet goals and objectives
  • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary
  • A valid driver's license is required
