General Job Description Position Overview

IES Residential is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to join our team. The Pre-Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning and preparation phases of electrical projects, coordinating project documentation, plans, purchase orders, materials, and schedules to ensure projects are properly prepared for execution. The Pre-Construction Manager will compile and organize all project documentation from permit acquisition to project close-out, requiring exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate pre-construction activities for electrical projects from initial project setup through handoff, completion, and close-out.
  • Configure and initiate job sites within division systems, ensuring project information is accurately entered, organized, and maintained.
  • Review and verify builder plans, electrical drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and related project documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Review project plans for options, revisions, and non-standard electrical changes and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure modifications are properly documented and incorporated.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to identify and select appropriate electrical equipment, materials, devices, and components based on project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor electrical material and equipment requirements to support timely purchasing, delivery, and project execution.
  • Compile, organize, and maintain complete project documentation from permit acquisition through project close-out.
  • Partner with division teams to establish project schedules, milestones, and priorities and coordinate the timely execution of electrical work.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while monitoring timelines, documentation, material requirements, and project readiness.
  • Identify plan discrepancies, material concerns, scheduling conflicts, scope changes, and other pre-construction issues and coordinate timely resolution with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, project management, operations, field personnel, builders, vendors, and other departments throughout the pre-construction process.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project status, requirements, changes, and potential concerns to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance pre-construction workflow, project accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain professionalism and provide excellent customer service at all times.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction processes, materials, equipment, and pre-construction operations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, construction plans, specifications, purchase orders, and related project documents.
  • Knowledge of electrical industry standards, construction practices, applicable codes, and project requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing plans, orders, and project documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate electrical equipment and material requirements with purchasing, operations, and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments and teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and division-specific systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
