JOB PURPOSE

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for direct patient care and for other administrative duties as designated by the Operations Manager and his/her designee and in accordance with the State Regulations and Scope of Practice. The VP of Operations will provide the overall direction for all patient care activities. The offices the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will travel to include Proctorville, Huntington, and Gallipolis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides medical services to patients, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care.
  • Serves as an educational preceptor for the clinical staff including:
    • Responds to questions/consultations of the staff.
    • Plans and teaches in-services.
    • Follows medical protocols, handouts and clinical standards.
    • Assists in expanding the competencies of the clinical staff.
  • Practices medicine using sound medical judgment and adheres to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine; knows limitations and seeks consult when advisable; keeps abreast of current technologies and industry standards.
  • Meets all clinical obligations of the medical practice:
    Accrediting Agency compliance, CLIA compliance, drug prescription compliance, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, Safety Regulations, etc.
  • Follows all internal policies and procedures; is accountable for completion of all operational tasks according to departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing/documentation.
  • Advises administration of any issues that may impact the practice.
  • Sees patients in a timely and efficient manner, stays reasonably on time for scheduled appointments in family practice throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur.
  • Documents the proper coding and appropriate charging for all services rendered due to the financial viability of the company.
  • Maintains charts in the patient’s medical record to be completed on the same day as the patient’s visit.
  • Demonstrates on‑going support and respect for administration in all communications, either privately with staff or in a group setting.
  • Addresses any administrative issues directly and in private with those concerned.
  • Possesses time‑management skills to utilize time for OVP related activities and for assigned tasks during blocked‑out times by administration; routinely sees patients in the time allotted, adjusting to daily patient flow issues to remain on schedule.
  • Work productivity must demonstrate ability to see a minimum case load of 20 patients per day; effectively works patients into their schedules as caseload demands and responds to a variety of unforeseen daily circumstances, including emergency care of patients.
  • Adheres to administrative priorities without setting conflicting personal ones.
  • NPs must be flexible, adapt to change, and serve as a role model for staff through interactions; NPs should at all times think outside the box, providing possible resolutions/solutions to issues/concerns, rather than simply pointing out a problem area.
  • Complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Assists in creating a constructive professional atmosphere for the staff by being a positive influence; actions/comments should enhance morale and staff relations.
  • Serves as a resource for administration in various capacities related to a wide range of needs; meets periodically with administration at their request, either routinely or on an as‑needed basis.
  • Serves as a role model for staff by setting a good example, which includes but is not limited to punctuality, demeanor, communication, customer service, workload.
  • Learns new technologies and commits to providing leadership and training to the staff as new technologies are implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Must possess a Medical License through the State in which they practice.
  • Maintain Basic Life Support Card (CPR).
  • Maintain Advanced Life Support Card (Optional but Preferred).
  • Maintain Pediatrics Advanced Life Support Card (Optional but Preferred).
  • Maintain Board Certification.
  • Maintain DEA Certification (if applicable).
  • Maintain Data 2000 Waiver (30 pts first year; 100 patients thereafter).
