Position PurposeAt Hocking College, our students are the priority. Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate patient health histories
- Approve patient dentitions for sealant application, silver diamine fluoride placement, and Curodont placement
- Order, approve, and interpret dental X‑rays
- Provide dental screenings for Head Start, Military, and Developmentally disabled patients
- Follow HIPAA guidelines
- Comply with infection control, OSHA and hazardous waste safety guidelines
- Identify referrals for patients
- Prescribe and dispense preventative medications as needed
- Be available to answer questions regarding health history, pathology, and clinical treatment
- Assist in management of medical emergencies
- Serve as a resource for faculty and students regarding patient care
- Serve as supervising dentist during CDCA ADEX Board examinations and be available during CODA site visits as requested
- Provide state‑mandated supervision for applicable dental procedures
- May administer local anesthesia and provide direct patient care in accordance with Ohio Revised Code and institutional policy
- Participate in faculty and staff meetings and calibration meetings (as requested by the Program Director)
- Comply with Ohio State Dental Board regulations governing supervising dentists in an educational setting (Ohio State Dental Practice Act)
- Support and maintain compliance with CODA accreditation standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, Program Manager, and/or department chair
- Adaptable and open to new ideas
- Knowledge of college and department policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations
- Comply with CODA accreditation standards
- Exhibit professional behavior while assisting with the needs of students, faculty, staff, visitors and co‑workers
- Conduct oneself with professionalism and respect toward others
- Participate in and complete performance assessments and evaluations as assigned
- Perform additional duties or job functions that are required and deemed necessary by Program Director
- Maintain student and patient confidentiality
- Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree is required
- Unencumbered dental license in the State of Ohio is required
- Current Health Care Provider and CPR training is required
- Clinical teaching experience in a dental hygiene or dental program is preferred
- Experience as a supervising dentist in a teaching environment is preferred
