About the Clinician's WorkdayConventional Radiotherapy and 3D Radiotherapy, including External Beam Radiation techniques such as 3D‑CRT, IGRT, and IMRT, are advanced cancer treatment methods that use precisely targeted radiation beams to destroy or control tumors while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. More specialized approaches, such as Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), deliver highly focused, high‑dose radiation in single or limited sessions, often used for small or well‑defined tumors.
These modalities are forms of external beam radiation therapy designed to improve accuracy, effectiveness, and patient safety. Required duties associated with these treatments include ordering diagnostic tests and imaging studies to guide planning and delivery, as well as prescribing appropriate radiation therapy based on the patient's condition and treatment goals.
