Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of English in twentieth- and twenty-first global Anglophone literature, beginning July 2026. The candidate may focus on one or more specific regions (e.g. the Caribbean, Africa, South Asia) or on transnational networks or orientations (e.g. the Global South, Global Indigenous, the transatlantic, or the transpacific).
We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are also practicing creative nonfiction or fiction writers.
The teaching requirement will be 3:2 or 2:3 and will include courses at all levels of our curriculum. Visiting faculty also contribute to departmental life. Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level is required. Ph.D. preferred, but applicants who are ABD will be considered. A completed application must include
1) a cover letter detailing research interests, teaching experience, and teaching philosophy with information on experience with and plans for teaching diverse students;
2) a Curriculum Vitae;
3) an unofficial graduate transcript; and
4) a writing sample of up to 30 pages. Applicants should also submit the names and email addresses of three references. These references will be prompted by email to upload their letters of recommendation to the application website at a later stage.
All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's website at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled; to ensure full consideration, candidates should submit preliminary materials by February 23, 2026. Applications will be acknowledged by automatic response. Preliminary interviews will be held by Zoom or Google Meet, with on-campus interviews and teaching demonstrations to follow.
