Cross-Categorical teacher

Position:
Cross-Categorical teacher (up to 2 positions) - K-6
Reports to the building Principal and Director of Pupil Services

Qualifications:

Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist Teaching licensure
Preferred Requirements:
Training or experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), trained in CPI strategies & experience working with students with various complex disabilities.

Duties:
1.Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2.Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
3.Works collaboratively in creating and sustaining an integrated classroom to provide services to students.
4.Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
5.Plans for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
6.Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
7.Takes on all roles of an Intervention Specialist, which is not limited to, but includes compliancy with special education law and implementation of appropriate behavioral strategies.
8.Provides an educational program for students as defined in the students Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.), maintains data that is relevant to their individual goals as outlined on their IEPs, and attends all relevant meetings.
9.Monitors the progress of his or her entire caseload, maintains compliant records and communicates with parents and teachers.
10.Attends and participates in ongoing training sessions/professional Development in the areas needed for the assigned caseload.
11.Directs and manages all aides, if applicable, for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
12.Works collaboratively with contracted service providers to support individual students.
13.Uses specifically designed instruction that includes multi-sensory approaches and all learning styles.
14.Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
15.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
16.Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
17.Other duties as assigned by Principal/designee
