Position Summary
The 3rd Grade Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards. The position supports student academic achievement and social-emotional development through effective teaching practices, classroom management, assessment, and collaboration with stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction in core academic areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, in alignment with district curriculum and Ohio’s Learning Standards.
- Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that address diverse learning styles and student needs.
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement differentiated instruction, interventions, and enrichment to support all learners.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and behavior in accordance with district policies.
- Utilize instructional technology and district-approved resources to enhance teaching and learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention specialists, and support staff to promote student success.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent conferences, and school-related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid Ohio Elementary Education teaching license (Grades PK–5 or K–5), or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Previous elementary teaching experience, preferably at the intermediate level.
- Experience with data-driven instruction and differentiated learning strategies.
Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting instructional materials.
- Requires the ability to supervise students and maintain a safe learning environment.
Salary and work year are established by the Northwestern Local Schools Board of Education in accordance with the negotiated agreement.
